What's New

Here's a review I wrote for Stingray's The Master Plan:

The Master Plan is definitely one of the best episodes Stingray has to offer. This underwater adventure has got it all: Humour, Action, Romance and of coarse Battle stations! This is definitely one of my favourite Stingray episodes. A fantastic script from Alan Fennell!

The story starts off in Titanica when Titan reveals his master plan to recapture Marina, the beautiful mute mermaid, so she can be his slave again. I love the way X20 (my favourite villain) does that sort of eye- roll at Titan when he is told to be quiet. And again when he is told his help is not required.

The Terror Fish attack on Stingray is nice and so is the scene when Troy is sprayed with the purple liquid. When Troy is getting sprayed, he bears a strange resemblance to Dr Fawn from Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons!

The weak spots of the episode are the scenes with Tempest in hospital. They are just boring, because you know he’ll live anyway. As they say: "If you are a young hero, nothing can kill you!" *Grumbles* And that doctor is so irritating. He is just so… dull.

The scene with Marina and the ocean backdrop is a nice addition.

Next is Battle Stations! No comment here except it’s really exciting!

The scene in Titanica when Titan says: "X20, you have the brain of a Terranean at times!" is a classic. And X20 once again does that look-away-rolls-eyes face! Does it get any better?!

Yes it does! Moving along more to the Boarding Tube to Titanica, Troy and Phones have their ray guns, but in the gunfight, they have completely different guns. The gunbattle is really well done, definitely one of my favourite SuperM gunfights.

The Terror Fish chase is very tense as you wonder if this is it for the Stingray crew. But of course you know that they will live to fight another day.

The final scene when X20 gets whacked on the head with the stick and the birds chirping is excellent! A fantastic way to finish a fantastic episode.

An easy 5/5.
